Former NFL Player James Hardy Body Found in Indiana River

The body of former NFL player James Hardy III was found in the in an Indiana river near Fort Wayne.

He was 31. James Hardy was reported missing by his family weeks ago.

Police in Fort Wayne were called to the area around Hosey Dam at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday after a worker at a water treatment plant noticed a foul smell coming from the area around the dam. The worker then saw Allen’s body in a logjam at the dam’s base, according to police.

James Hardy was a second-round pick (No. 41 overall) by the Buffalo Bills in the 2008 NFL draft. He had 10 catches for 96 yards and two touchdowns in two seasons. He also spent time with the Baltimore Ravens.

Hardy’s cause of death has not been determined, according to Allen County Coroner’s Office investigator Rebecca Stuttle. “Everything is still under investigation,” Stuttle said.
